CBC has a page documenting all the murdered and missing Aboriginal Women since the 1950's. Every decade, apart from the last sees more women murdered or missing. The highest counts are west of Saskatchewan with British Columbia having the highest.
What do we know of these provinces? They are governed by conservative parties that are pro-business. They are resource driven economies. Is there a link between these and racism? Does the kind of economy define the social attitudes?

Another question is - in what way does the professional system and services represent general attitudes towards the other? And what skills are required to get the information we need if we are not in academia? Living on Gabriola Island I am aware of very different attitudes and information than when I lived in Abbotsford where the news source was geared to the bible belt but not necessarily representing educated and thoughtful Christians (the Muslim family left and there were only a few Jewish families there.
