We Nearly Had It Right ... but

There were times when I felt we (humanity) might survive. Yes we have mostly got it wrong but up until 1933 a new trend in human nature spilled out. No, Hitler and his fans were seen and warned about but then somehow managed to over take Germany, a nation that prior to WWII we thought were smart and rational then fell in love with power. Not to say that before the 19th century we did not crave power. Henry 6th decided it was too easy to blame women who were tortured into submission.

When Henry 8th came to power we learned that might makes right. It didn't it just meant you could be burned at the stake just for challenging the throne.

Someone else then saw that the Jews were good scapegoats because most people didn't know much about Judaism.

It was a time when we could make it up as we go along. Forget how Jews were a stabling society, much wiser than the magical thinking of Christianity. Even Jesus couldn't be blamed for what came after his torturous murder.

We should have got it then. Seen the future of humanity in the Messiah's death. But no we believed it was God's will, to teach how  God loved us he sacrificed his only begotten son.  Did anyone think to ask Mary first? The Jews were too smart to fall for that.

Then the Romans found a way to release their guilt by making tons of money from this new religion. We humans were gullible when we assumed wealth was simply God's blessing.

Patriarchy was very smart when  when it inserted itself in the bible to reveal that Adam was obedient while Eve thought she could get away with a few apples from the Garden of Eden. So childbirth became painful to punish Eve and all women said the bishop I met when I was pregnant with my first child.

This meant, although Eve gave birth, she was not the Mother of Jesus, and was to be punished for stealing the apple and so would suffer pain in the process to remind all women that Eve was not a good obedient woman and certainly not the mother of the Messiah. While man was the father, Eve was a disobedient surrogate mother.

Moving forward to the 6th century women were tortured until they admitted they were witches. Then many were burned when they confessed. This meant that women were scapegoats now. Eve's little oversight was no longer needed.

Christianity became a religion for good men instructed to keep control of their wives. This was very useful because no matter how much violence they perpetrated it was always the wife's fault. No matter how many virgins were raped, it was because of the woman's power over good men, tempting them with their charms. Time for another witch hunt.

Also white men were encouraged to travel to other lands and take it from those who were there and had been there for centuries. With the help of the Catholic church young children were taken away from their mothers and abused until they forgot their own language and original families.

Britain was a small country at first then they learned how to steal land from others, silence them and their language and call ourselves conquerors.

In all these cases people became civilized by apologizing for their sins and expecting civilization to calm our previous habits. Then recently we learned how even in America we were not always good.

History, religion and feminism were not enough to make society fair and perfect. African Americans were treated with lynches, and other means of keeping the white man pure white. In spite of the panic and fear of replacement, the fear of feminism, and the fear of apologizing for our sins.

The next messiah must be a man who hates women, people of colour and socialism. We must embrace a man who thinks America can be great by power alone. Settle for love of power instead of compassion for living beings. Are we any better than bears and pigs?
