Let your relations and friends know what they mean to you

You keep me sane. You smile, make coffee and toast, tell me what you think and tell me what you are planning to do today.

It all sounds very normal but more than that it keeps me from feeling despair. Politics is invested in making me feel I don't matter. But I do. Just because I don't have billions or bomb factories or a doctorate doesn't mean I am nothing. 

I am a human being who can tell the difference between good and evil. I can read the news. I can write my opinion which is worth more than an advertisement. Yes advertising is back by money and can spread further but I have learned that money is not life. 

When friends and relatives give their opinion I know it's a human thing. It doesn't mean I believe it is right. It means this person has family, work, and a life. 

Save The World.

Yes this is vague

this is because of something

but you can't say what right now.

Just because you don't know how

to save the world

doesn't mean you can't do it.

Think.

Don't overthink

or look for easy answers.

Scrolling through the news of what the powerful are trying to do with your future I feel more convinced that it's up to us. All of us.

We didn't blame Granny for Hitler but what was most difficult to absorb was the idea that innocent ignorant weary workers/fathers/Mothers were responsible for maintaining democracy even though they were not informed of what the elite felt entitled to. 

So anyone who reads disturbing messages - delete the messages, report them if you can, listen to the concerns of your friends and family, give them time and compassion. But don't give up on humanity. All this, the conscience of a nation, democracy as it is, the people, our relatives, is our responsibility. I'm not saying we are all to blame for the violence in our world, but the reason we are nagged, saddened and angry -- is because we are human.

Natriarchy

 

While patriarchy focuses

on what men can do

to win

and matriarchy focuses

on what each of us owes

our family

I suggest

we combine these trends

and create a new way.

Patriarchy demands

courage above self preservation

and encourages the feminine

stay in the kitchen

unmentioned unseen

feed the family

care for the provider

speak softly

don't draw attention

to yourself

but women notice things

which need to be addressed

like rape

is not merely a gift

to the hero

rape is the thing

that silently destroys

love and courage

you can't expect

the rapist to nurture

the wounded

he wouldn't understand

how nurture works

it's not weakness

it is the glue between

brother and sister

the blood still in their veins

What Is Our Moral Obligation?

It's Sunday morning. The sun is shining. It's warm and I have been reading a Canadian newspaper that I  supported with money in the past. Not very much but I was able to read columns. I am not able to now. Not sure why but I don't want to dwell on it.

Why not dwell on it? Make a fuss. Stir up trouble?

Because I see power for power's sake becoming the emphasis. Not truth or justice. This happened in Hitler's Germany. And now in Netanyahu's Israel. I understand the fear. When power is the only thing worth having in the mind of people you can't afford to question it.

Separating children from their parents, keeping groups of immigrants in prison with no contact to family or the outside. Allowing guns in schools. Not punishing those who kill others. Not interested in justice or reason. We have seen nations give up on justice, leaders who encourage rape of women in order to become a male dominated culture.

What is happening when normal attitudes towards justice and civilization are trashed? People who hold power become fearful they will be treated like those they treat.

What we think of as 'normal' is not. There is no normal. Humanity loses its memory of right and wrong.

Truth. Where are you? Feed my mind. Guide my soul

There is a road. It waits for you. It loves life. Not pretend life where we are expected to belief things based on the power of one mind. Or even the power of wealth and influence.

Go back to your childhood. Or to a time when you thought your life was coming to an end. Back to when you were scared and someone came to comfort you.

The Envelope Lickers

 

Because I was born in a hierarchical nation where everyone was known to be in a class -- the very bottom were homeless, then general workers like sweepers and cleaners, washerwomen and prostitutes, engine drivers, street sweepers, I see current social/political affairs as attempting to rate the worth of humans like leaders in established societies. Individuals who will or may be very useful to the king or ruler.

Henry 6th took the enthusiastic intelligence of brave women expressing themselves as though it would benefit society, only benefit was what benefited him. Calling these women witches enabled him to kill off women. Women were born to bring babies into the world. They were uneducated in the general sense. At least that was the thinking, however the reality was people were self taught and so would have to keep silent. Everyone had their place and should not reach above the roles given to them. Religion was used to keep people in their place.

We could change this but it would take a while before people would see others as worth and respect what they don't know. We could see life, ours and others, as a mystery. We could admit that we can't see the future entirely. We could walk among neighbours, friends and family as vibrant and alive, and love them for it.

We could stop seeing others in a hierarchy of value based on the tradition of patriarchy and love those who have power but are starved of emotional support. EM has a future regardless of whether we see it or not. She has personal proof of how power makes humanity seem stupid. Hopefully she is loved by family and friends.
