one flake at a time
falls over any stem or twig
that rises above the earth
like an epiphany
the mind opening
saying "ah now I get it"
You knew it was coming
even though you didn't know when
but now it is here.
Millions of tiny flakes
weighing down the branches
that tree you always knew was there
but hadn't looked at for a long time
taking its presence for granted
suddenly illuminated with a mass.
